Monday, September 1: The provincial government announces that Cancer Care Alberta, Give Life Alberta and the emergency health services provincial health corporation are operational. These organizations are part of the transition from Alberta Health Services to Acute Care Alberta.

Tuesday, September 2: Education minister Demetrios Nicolaides says his government is pausing “until further notice” its directive that schools remove books with explicit content from their libraries. The announcement comes after the Edmonton Public School Board released a list of 200 books it planned to remove to comply with the ministerial order.

Thursday, September 4: Finance minister Nate Horner announces that members of the Alberta Union of Provincial Employees (AUPE) have voted to accept a mediator’s recommendation for a four-year agreement that includes a 12 per cent wage increase. Of the 23,000 employees represented by the union, 71 per cent voted and 63 per cent were in favour of the agreement.
