ALBERTA COUNCIL FOR THE UKRAINIAN ARTS

The Council promotes Ukrainian arts and culture. Its gallery shows the work of artists of Ukrainian heritage. Mika and Carmella Haykowsky: Portrait Over Portrait, a mother/daughter exhibit, runs until Apr 12. Wings of Wonder runs Apr 17–May 31.

The ACC’s downtown Edmonton location has two galleries showcasing Alberta craft artists working in stone, glass, wood, pottery and textiles.

The AGA has a collection of over 6,000 works. It is currently showing The Feminine Landscape, featuring Alyson Davies, Crystal Driedger, Janet Sutanto, Ashley Thimot and Samantha Williams- Chapelsky, until Mar 30. A concurrent show is 5 Artists 1 Love, an annual exhibition of Edmonton African-Canadian artists curated this year by Darren W. Jordan, with Dara Ojo, Charlene Johnson, Jamelle Davis, Favour Olayinka Abimbola and Jabari Broodhagen. Ekow Nimako: Building Black Civilizations–Journey of 2,000 Ships, runs until Apr 13, while AGA 100: Act 3 Words to Worldmaking, featuring “works that communicate over time and space,” is on until Jun 1.

This forum for contemporary art, T architecture and design also provides affordable studio facilities to local artists. There is a Beginning and no End, by Oksana Movchan, and Unnatural Order, by Dustin Coulson, are both on until Apr 17.

One of Canada’s oldest and largest artist- run centres has over 2,600 ft2 of exhibition space. Founded in 1973 by a collective of Edmonton artists, it is a major centre for contemporary art. The Capsule Machine Project features six artists’ miniature artworks in capsules. One artist launches each month until June. Roses Noun’s pieces can be seen starting in April.
