For almost 60 years Glenbow has been one of Canada’s most important museums. But the building’s systems and concrete exterior envelope were beginning to fail. In 2021 renovations began to transform the museum, replacing those failing aspects and creating new spaces—including high-density collections storage systems. Throughout this process the collection was carefully managed and protected as it was moved within the museum. These photographs provide a peek at this complex game—packing objects, moving them, renovating spaces and carefully migrating precious items into their new homes. Glenbow is expected to reopen in late 2026.
