Province Announces New Health Centre in Airdrie

Monday, September 21: The province announces plans for a new health centre in Airdrie in partnership with Covenant Health, expected to open in 2031. It will have annual capacity for 30,000 urgent care visits, 1,000 deliveries and 10,000 surgeries. Friends of Medicare director Chris Gallaway expresses disappointment that it won’t be “a full hospital with an Emergency Department and acute care beds that this community requires now.”

Tuesday, September 22: The UCP government announces that as of October 1 it will pause its fuel tax for three months. The move is expected to save Albertans 13 cents a litre on gas and diesel.

Thursday, September 24: Elections Alberta releases the official results for the Calgary-Shaw by-election, confirming Kyle Campbell (NDP) as the MLA-elect.
